Our genetic ancestry testing service allows you to trace your heritage back thousands and thousands of years to determine your ancestor’s roots and migration paths. We make use of two types of DNA to establish markers of descent which has been passed down from your ancient predecessors on both your paternal and maternal side. As a result, we offer two types of ancestry testing:
For Women: Maternal Lineage Testing (mtDNA) – R 1850
For Men: Paternal Lineage Testing (Y-Chromosome) & Maternal Lineage Testing (mtDNA) – R 2950
The maternal lineage test uses mitochondrial DNA to trace the origin of your ancestors from your mother’s side of the family. Whereas the paternal lineage test uses Y-Chromosome DNA to trace the lineage of your father’s side of the family.
It is important to note that Y-chromosome testing is only available to male individuals, as females do not inherit a Y-chromosome. In instances where female individuals want to learn about their paternal lineage – we suggest they ask a male relative to undergo the testing on their behalf. The mtDNA test is available to people of either sex.
